Right in the middle of Grünerløkka’s thrift paradise, you’ll find a bright, unpretentious space filled with curated vintage treasures from Europe’s biggest secondhand scene. This chain is already well established in cities like Amsterdam, Paris, Copenhagen and Hamburg. And for good reason. They handpick and resell denim, dresses, shoes, bags and everything in between. More than once, we’ve walked out with something that feels truly personal. Their first Norwegian location opened in Bergen, and this Løkka branch feels like a natural extension of the street itself. The interior pays tribute to the building’s history, with worn linoleum floors and exposed brick walls.

Gapet

Gapet

This is a cozy little retro wine bar filled with green plants and industrial charm. They offer carefully curated French natural wines from the Loire and other regions, as well as classic cocktails like Daiquiri and Negroni. The snacks here are excellent too, with options like large green olives from Sicily, walnuts, chips served with sour cream and jalapeño dip, cheeses like Brillat-Savarin, and shrimp rolls with shrimp, crayfish tails and pickled jalapeños. Delicious! The relaxed atmosphere is perfectly complemented by music that swings between soft techno and funk, just right for casual conversation.

Grød

Grød

At this successful Danish concept, it’s all about porridge. But if you’re still haunted by watery oatmeal from your childhood, fear not – that’s not what you’ll get here. You can try options like barley risotto served with pickled mushrooms, cheese and thyme, or a red daal with almonds, coriander and yogurt. Pretty tasty! The space is bright and simply decorated, with wooden chairs and a few plants adding a fresh touch.

Handover Copenhagen

Handover Copenhagen

In the heart of Løkka, surrounded by coffee spots and small niche shops, you’ll find a mix of carefully curated vintage clothing, unique furniture, interior pieces and handmade jewelry. Everything is handpicked and arranged into small seasonal collections. If you’re on a treasure hunt, you might stumble upon unique pieces from Gucci, Prada, Burberry and Levi’s. We came across both designer labels and lesser-known gems. The furniture selection is curated together with KABA Universe, offering elegant tables, chairs and small objects that add character to any apartment. The whole place feels distinctly Scandinavian and well put together, with high-quality materials and timeless pieces made to last.

Kafeteria August

Kafeteria August

This popular restaurant and wine bar is tucked away in a courtyard off Universitetsgata, surrounded by glass, concrete and futuristic lighting. But step inside and you’ll find a much cozier and more relaxed vibe. The space feels open, with the kitchen at the heart of it all. They run a full day concept with lunch, dinner and a lively wine bar. Prices are moderate, but the quality is top notch and easily on par with similar spots. The crowd is a fun mix of the city’s trendsetters, folks in hiking gear and men in suits.

Vinkassen

Vinkassen

The charming little wine bar is called Vinkassen, and that’s exactly what you’ll find inside – a big box filled with bottles available by the glass. After ten years working as chefs, two young Danes decided to open a local wine bar in Bislett, Oslo. Tired of all the cheese platters being served at the city’s wine bars, they wanted to create a spot with both great wine and proper food on the menu. Here you’ll always find a solid and varied selection by the glass, along with a food menu full of tempting small plates inspired by Italian, Spanish and French flavors.

Danish 'smørrebrød' for lunch, wine bar and restaurant by night! Stepping into this yellow house by the Akerselva feels a little like stumbling into a Copenhagen tavern. If you’re a fan of open-faced sandwiches, these are right up your alley. Expect delights like crispy breaded plaice with hand-peeled shrimp and remoulade, roast beef with horseradish and crispy onions, smoked eel with soft-boiled egg, or a slice topped with roast pork and marinated red cabbage. In the evening, the wine bar opens with small bites and snacks, or you can settle into the restaurant and enjoy everything from duck gyoza with ponzu to gratinated snails, cavatelli with mussels, and handpicked scallops with beurre blanc. Inside you’ll find dark wooden surfaces and glass cabinets filled with bottles, and there’s also a very charming outdoor seating.
