About Oslo Explore

Oslo Explore is a free map and guide to Oslo made by the people behind Mer av Oslo ("More of Oslo"), who have explored and written about the city since 2019 and are followed by more than 140,000 locals. The mission from the start has been to show the unique local businesses, activities and places that make Oslo worth exploring.

How places get on the map

Every place on the free Oslo map is picked and described by the Mer av Oslo team. Places are tagged by what they are (restaurant, bakery, wine bar) and by what locals look for (open on Sundays, outdoor seating, cheap beer), and those tags drive the category pages and the walking routes.

The site publishes a place's name, description, categories, location, website and directions. It does not publish opening hours, prices or ratings, and it does not rank venues. Check the venue's own website for hours and prices before you go.

How the guides are written

The Oslo guides are written for visitors planning a trip. Each article is credited to the Oslo Explore editorial team, shows its published and updated dates, and cites the official sources behind volatile facts such as opening times, ticket prices and closures. When something changes in the city, the article is updated rather than replaced.
