Homemade pasta, fresh fish, sun on the terrace and an open kitchen? Yes please. At the top of St Hanshaugen you’ll get a refreshing taste of Southern Europe and the Mediterranean. There are plenty of small tables and chefs prepping away in the open kitchen. The menu is full of shareable small plates, with a recommendation of three to four dishes per person. With an intimate vibe, excellent service and delicious food, we’d say this place is perfect whether you’re out with friends or on a date.

Oslo has no shortage of cafés and bakeries, but there are not quite as many good old-fashioned delis where you can grab a proper lunch. This New York–inspired neighbourhood gem serves seriously good sandwiches and transforms into a cosy evening bistro on Thursdays and Fridays. We are talking about a Pastrami Reuben (a favourite!), Cubano and crispy fried chicken on sourdough bread. Inside the sandwiches, you will find a wide selection of cheeses from around the world, meats from Indre Oslo Matforedling, and sourdough bread from Ille Brød. In other words, there is no compromise on the quality of ingredients here.

We were surprised by both the size of the store and the range of items available—from clothing for adults and kids to accessories, books, furniture and artwork. The shop is spacious, spread over one floor with different rooms dedicated to each category. Despite the wide selection, it’s not a specialty store for vintage designer clothes if that’s what you’re after. Prices here are generally a bit more affordable compared to other vintage shops in Oslo. They also have a location in Hasle.

Mad Love
New York-style pizza in Grønland! A perfect slice stop with large, foldable slices, generous toppings, and an unpretentious vibe that feels just right for this street. The menu is short and playful, where classics meet an Oslo twist. We recommend 'Lucifer', topped with salami piccante, ’nduja, roasted peppers, ricotta, and mozzarella. 'Mad Ost' is also a great choice, rich and salty with caramelised walnuts. If neither of those tempt you, go for 'Skippern', with salsiccia, spinach, gorgonzola and mozzarella. The place itself is small, and takeaway is the main game here, but there are a few tables that seat four to five people. It is laid-back and nothing fancier than what you would expect from a proper local pizza joint.

Fiery peppercorns, a slightly worn interior and top tier food. Make no mistake, this place is absolutely worth the long standing hype. And don’t forget to ask about the secret menu. The selection ranges from classics like spring rolls and dumplings to crispy duck and fried rice or noodles – all familiar favorites. Tranen
By Alexander Kiellands plass you will find this city icon dating back to 1921. In the evenings they serve thin, generous, and truly delicious pizzas, when Lofthus Samvirkelag takes over the kitchen. The 'Trøffelsalami' has long been a favourite, and their 'Reinsdyr' is both unique and exceptionally good. The interior has a distinct bistro feel, with dark wood and small tables. You can feel the history in the walls, from its days as a people’s restaurant and old-school pub to today’s warm neighbourhood gathering spot. Easily in the top ten of the city’s best pizza places, with a wine list that is surprisingly ambitious for a local hangout.

We’ve enjoyed everything from the classic 'Margherita' and the slightly spicier 'Diavola', to the indulgent 'Quattro Formaggi' and the burrata-topped 'Burratina'. The interior features natural materials, earthy tones and a touch of Nordic minimalism. Italian photos and motifs adorn the walls, and upstairs you’ll even find a Vespa on display. Here you’ll find over 200 sculptures in stone, bronze and granite that capture the entire human experience, from birth to death. You can see the iconic Monoliten (Monolith), a powerful tower made of 121 human figures rising toward the sky, or say hello to Sinnataggen (the Angry Little Boy), the sculpture everyone in Norway knows. Around you stand figures running, dancing, resting and embracing each other. The park is an oasis all year round, and many visitors come just to enjoy the surroundings. In spring, magnolia trees sparkle in bloom, summer offers long green lawns and shady alleys, autumn paints the leaves yellow and red, and winter dresses the sculptures in snow.
